UNSURE WHICH PRACTITIONER IS RIGHT FOR YOU ?
DERRIN KLUTH
PHYSIOTHERAPIST
Derrin was awarded his Clinical Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his inquisitive mind quickly led him to develop his skills in Fascial Therapy, which utilizes the assessment and treatment techniques of John Barnes’ Myofascial Release and related fascial treatment disciplines.
Since beginning to treat with the JBMFR method in 2011, he has successfully treated a wide variety of patients in multiple countries—including post-operative college athletes, chronic pain sufferers, neurological patients, and those with everyday aches and pains. Using the insights and experience he has learned since then, he utilizes an approach that specializes in finding and addressing the specific sources of symptoms that are hard to locate, or even explain, with other methods of treatment. He also specializes in educating, guiding, and instructing patients who are ready to begin to take their power back in developing the skill of home self treatment with the goal that they will require less and potentially even no in-clinic treatment as they increase their capability to do so.
The aim of his approach is to bring about lifestyle change to guide and facilitate a person through the healing journey from a state of chronic pain and disability to self-actualized recovery of the life they have lost. He starts by utilizing a detailed approach to assessment which emphasizes finding the root of symptoms caused or influenced by the fascial system which is unique to every individual. Once that is established, he begins to treat using a method incorporating precise and powerful hands-on tissue techniques to target and address those causes, followed by empowering the patient with self care techniques to become skilled at treating the causes themselves between visits. He then adds specific rehabilitative exercises to restore strength or mobility deficits which may be hindering motion. And finally he instructs in individually unique functional education to retrain the patient to correctly use their bodies to reduce pain and regain the ability to independently perform their chosen activities.
In his spare time, he participates in an eclectic mix of sports including several martial arts, and taking on tough hikes with his family in the beautiful Escarpment Country.
